"Krathong Contest"

What is Loy Krathong? Loy Krathong is a traditional festival celebrated in Thailand on the full moon night of the Twelfth Lunar Month. “Loy” means “to float”. “Krathong” is a vessel traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern day versions often use Styro­foam), decorated with elaborately folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense etc. Once the incense and candles are lit, one makes a wish as the Krathong is cast upon the water. It is a tradition that dates back hundreds of years in Thailand and we welcome you to celebrate it with us as we bring this popular festivity to Washington area!
